UBS
WARBURG LTD STAMPS ITS AUTHORITY UBS
Warburg
dominates the rankings overall, with its typically strong
showing in the two 'size' tables being supported by a resurgence
in both 'growth' rankings. Not only can the firm boast the
biggest collection of quoted clients and the most profitable
set of clients, now it can also point to both increased
pretax profits and accelerating earnings across its client
base.
That
said, Warburgs has some way to go before it can challenge
either HSBC Investment Bank's position as the financial
adviser with the fastest growing clients, or Brewin Dolphin
Securities' status as the firm whose clients have achieved
the fastest increasing earnings over the last quarter.
The
remaining podium places remained unchanged across the 'size'
tables, with Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein and HSBC Investment
Bank continuing their close rivalry.
In both
'growth' tables last quarter's top dog, Investec Henderson
Crosthwaite, fell to second place in each, as reported profitability
and EPS growth both halved across its client base this quarter.
HSBC Investment Bank took the number one position in the
rankings of fastest growing clients, while Brewin Dolphin
Securities topped the rankings of clients with the fastest
increasing earnings.
Deutsche
Bank AG was perhaps the biggest loser this quarter. A loss
of seven listed company clients meant the firm dropped out
of the rankings altogether.
