SIGNIFICANT
MOVEMENT FOR PR ADVISERS
Although
the tables of the top financial public relations
firms are mainly steady, there have been several
significant movements.
The
top spots in the number of clients among the top
financial public relations firms this quarter are
similar to last quarter. Buchanan Communications
and Financial Dynamics tie for pole position with
128 each. Biggest mover was Square Mile BSMG Worldwide,
which is back to 91 clients again, which had previously
dropped to 67, following the removal of 24 clients
last quarter. Golin/Harris Ludgate has fallen out
of the list from eighth place last time, losing
17 clients, including Matalan and Teather &
Greenwood. In at number ten is Bell Pottinger, who
gained four clients, including new issues Advance
Visual Communications, Georgica and Greenchip Investments.
The
client profit table has also seen little movement
with the exception of Bell Pottinger who have leapt
into fourth place, following their recent client
wins which offsets the loss of the taken-over Thames
Water. This overall performance doubled their client
profit. Although Financial Dynamics retained the
second place, their client profit fell £2,585m
to £8,211m, reflecting the loss of Royal Bank
of Scotland and Tesco. This reduction alone far
exceeds the combined profits of the bottom four
PR firms. Hudson Sandler's clients' profit fell
£342m and resulted in it dropping from fifth
to seventh place, following the loss of Tomkins.
The large increase in Square Mile's clients' profits
resulted from the increase in the number of clients
referred to above.
The
two growth tables tell a similar story in terms
of winners and losers. Brunswick is number one with
the fastest growing clients based on pre-tax profits
and has overtaken College Hill, which has fallen
to second place. Bell Pottinger has broken into
the table at fourth place and continues its good
client win news. Lansons Communications retains
bottom place. College Hill retains the top position
for fastest increase in clients' eps and Bell Pottinger
has entered at number three. The remaining places
are similar to last quarter.
